I'm big on journals.
Love them.
At the schoolhouse we use them for all kinds of things...doodling, writing, poetry, learning reflections, math, science & more.
One things for sure, kids get more excited about using them when they're able to personalize them. Check out how one schoolhouse kid last week made her poetry journal all her own below.
regular old journal from the store |
decoupage mix--1 part liquid glue/3 parts water |
decoupage paper (she chose to go with an Animals of Australia theme) |
give it a coat on the bottom |
and the top |
she couldn't find a koala so she drew one herself (top right) |
That's a journal fit to hold the greatest of poems.
